The village of Spa Common, a satellite of North Walsham is relieved that, finally, Enviroco/HFS has moved its tanker fleet out of the village to their new temporary site on the Industrial Estate. This is bound to make conditions in the Manor Road area from the schools down to White Horse Common so much safer for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and, in particular, the children walking to school. It has been a long fight but determination to see this through to the bitter end has finally paid off.
On February 22nd at the North Norfolk District Council in Cromer the Liberal Democrat group voted against the Conservatives’ 2012/13 revenue budget. Liberal Democrat councillors voted to maintain the Council Tax at its present level and to support a programme of capital investment for the District which was for the most part the legacy of the Liberal Democrat administration.

Conservative controlled North Norfolk District Council decided to play scrooge this Christmas by announcing the end of free car parking at two different sites in North Walsham. The decision will see the Midland Road and the Mundesley Road car park change from being free parking to parking for season tickets only from the 1st April 2012. A season ticket can cost as much as £200.

Liberal Democrats have long campaigned for improvements to our local rail service. Now Norman Lamb MP has supported a motion of the North Norfolk District Council proposed by Liberal Democrats Eric Seward (North Walsham North) and Richard Smith (Sheringham North) on September 21.
Yesterday at North Norfolk District Council Lib Dem calls for consultation to refine the Conservative proposed Corporate Plan were rejected by Tory councillors. The move came after the Scrutiny Committee at NNDC referred the document back to Cabinet to make amendments.
