The House of Commons Home Affairs Committee will be coming to North Norfolk next week as part of their enquiry to hear what the public think the police should prioritise on in the future.
This is an ideal opportunity for local people to have their say on policing – and for Norfolk to show the select committee their innovative and impressive work using restorative justice. The Home Affairs Committee is meeting at Sheringham Community Centre on Saturday 4th June at 11:00.
Norman Lamb MP will be attending alongside Sheringham County Councillor Brian Hannah who is the Norfolk champion for restorative justice.
The North Norfolk MP said ‘I am delighted that the select committee is coming to North Norfolk. This is an excellent initiative to get out and talk to local communities. Norfolk police have pioneered restorative justice so that the criminal justice system focuses on the impact of offending on the victim and forces the offender to confront the consequences of their crime.’
Brian Hannah said ‘This is a unique opportunity for us to showcase the fantastic work being done by the police in Norfolk including the use of restorative justice. I encourage people to come along and make their contribution to the future direction of policing.’
